It's sports carnival day!
It's been a while since Crazy-Cups has been involved in a school sports carnival. The students who elected Crazy-Cups as the event to take part in were quick to pick up the sport, stacking the Cycle stack in no time.
An exciting relay competition ended the day for these secondary two quick learners. |

Sport-Stacking in the news!
Popular Straits Times journalist Cheryl Tan writes about the sport that is driving schools crazy.She was at Lianhua Primary school to witness our instructors conduct the concluding lesson for the Primary 2 students, and also witnessed an exciting competition between Lianhua students and their Chinese visitors.
Crazy-Cups, however, wishes to redress two misconceptions about Sport-Stacking, as raised by sport surgeon Tan Jee Lim in the article. Firstly, Tan commented that "it would be hard to define (sport-stacking) as (a sport) because a real sport requires actual physical activities that make use of the cardiovascular system in order to improve". REAL sports? What are they? Take Archery as an example. From the calm composure of an archer preparing and eventually sending an arrow over a long distance and striking the target with precision, they hardly seem to break a sweat. And what about Equestrian? It seems to work the horse's heart and lungs more than the rider's. By Tan's definition both would not be real sports, yet both were hotly contested events in the recent Beijing Olympics 2008, the International multi-sport event! Take the pulse rate of a stacker who has just competed in a heads-on challenge. Sport-stacking DOES work the cardiovascular system, and much more.
Secondly, Tan also suggested "Cupstacking is more of a leisure pursuit", and it is not hard to understand why such a comment is made. Despite being around since 1980 and touted as the fastest growing sport, there are still many people who have not heard of it, let alone realise and appreciate its benefits and fiercely competitive and exciting nature. Read the long list of benefits that Sport-stacking offers , and the study done by 4 US Professors on Sport-stacking's influence on hand-eye coordination and reaction time. Ask a keen stacker how much practice time and effort it takes to improve the Cycle Stack to under 10 sec, and the intense pressure he is subjected to during competitions. Leisure pursuit? Hardly!
Sport-stacking may not be in the league of the Olympics. Not just yet.
But start stacking. This could one day be your ticket to a Golden dream!

Sport-stacking is certainly appropriate for an event related to innovation. Invited to IRAS' "Learning and Innovation festival", Crazy-Cups shared this exciting sport with staffs of IRAS in this day long event, giving them a feel of stacking cups and even experience the excitement of a competition. |

[2008 Aug] Active Ageing Carnival with NTUC Club |

What they lacked in speed, they made it up with much enthusiasm.
Working with the NTUC Club, Crazy-Cups was at the Active Ageing Carnival @ Civic Plaza to share this amazing sport with senior citizens for a change. Despite the rain, they tried this new sport with curiosity and enthusiasm. |

This is probably the first time Crazy-Cups do not want kids to excel in our events!
In supporting CityChase Singapore 2008, patrons of Cavern Bar @ Boat Quay and even passers by are given free San Miguel Beer if they show they have the quick hands to Sport-Stack!
City Chase, the World’s Largest Urban Adventure Series, is participated by more than 250,000 on a global scale and drew in a total of 319 teams in Asia last year. Kicking off the Asia adventures in Singapore on 23rd August followed by Hong Kong on 18th October, more teams are expected to take part in this gruelling adventure that turns the concrete jungle into an exciting race ground. |
